The Divine Touch
The matter of the human spirit, soul or essential self or what ever you call it, is of much controversy. The Christian/Jewish view is a soul that exists forever, with only one physical incarnation. Where as many pagan faiths believe that the soul exists forever and has many reincarnations, physical lives. In most though, they speak little, at best, of the new soul and the birth of a new soul. This is the subject that we will address here. The human soul, birth, existences and death?
The new soul comes from the Abzu, this is the birth place of all things, it is the origin of the whole of the universe. With a growing population new souls have to be born/created to accommodate the new physical incarnations. When first born a new soul is as void as a baby, it's connection with the outer realms has not been fully made. After the first physical life time the soul starts it true birth process. It's first connection is with karma, though not a full connection it is an association that is unavoidable. In our view all new souls will not necessarily go on to another physical incarnation. In the case of a new soul that is unable to gain the necessary energy or strength to survive for reincarnation it's energy returns to the Abzu and the mortality rate is very high. If it survive for reincarnation it then gains it's connection to the outer realm, it then also knows that it will have another physical life and that it has to prepare for it to learn that which is offered through chance, fate and carried over from the first life time, this is when karma takes full effect as well.
The life of a soul is a series of physical lives and transitions. The period between incarnations we call transition, it is this time that the soul ponders the errors of it's previous life, what lessons it learned and that which it needs to set the stage for in it's next life. This cycle continues till an high level of enlightenment is achieved, at this point the soul can choose when it will be reincarnated and some believe if it will be reincarnated.
This brings us to the final stage of this discussion, the death of a soul. In many discussions I have learned much about how different people with differing faiths view this subject. Most do not believe that the soul has a "life span", it continues for all eternity, continually learning and teaching. Some believe that it goes to some grand holy reward, as in Christian theology. We believe that the soul will indeed eventually cease to exist at some point in this vast eternity. The reason for this belief is that the universe is based on a cycle of creation, existence and destruction. This is one of the divine laws, it can no more be ignored then the law of karma and just like karma if you do not believe in it, it still exists and happens. Whether this ending of a soul is set to a time limit or if it is set to the decision of each soul is still one of the great mysteries.
