Affirmation Ceremony

The purpose of this ceremony is to affirm your association with your patron deity(s) that will guide your growth. The beginning of ascending to grace is the identification of Devine force in your life and the effect that it has on your life.

The outer circle should be approximately 8', the inner should be 7' and the triangle fitting inside the smaller circle and not touching it. These dimensions are guide lines and not hard fixed sizes, the should be comfortable for you to work in, not crowded.

Preparation is as normal, first cleansing the area. Remove dust, sweep, arrange furniture, generally pickup and straighten up. Then it is time for you, bath and dress for the occasion, nothing fancy or elaborate is needed, just simple and clean clothes. Now arrange your props, draw the circle with the realm names as shown in figure 1. Place the candle holders and brazier also detailed in figure 1. Below is a list of items needed for this ceremony;

Material and Props

  1. Four pillar candles, 3" diameter, white.
  2. One brazier, large enough to be used comfortably.
  3. Incense.(Detailed later)
  4. Cedar oil.
  5. Blessed water.
  6. Three 6" taper candles, in your color.
  7. Asperger.

Preparation of the outer candles is simple, dress them with oil as you would for all rituals. Scribe the Devine name and realm appropriate for the direction.

This can be done in the character set of the common tongue of your land. If you prefer to, you can use one of the magical scripts. Scribed and dressed, place your candles in their holders. Take up the three inner candles, scribe them with one of the position as shown below. Dress them and put them in place according to figure 1, now place the charcoal in the brazier.

These candles represent the cycle of life. Birth, Death and Transition, these are you, or better stated these are your current life.

The preparation complete it is time to begin.

Standing outside the circle dip the asperger in the blessed water and sprinkle it around the outside of the circle.

Standing outside the east candle, facing toward the center of the circle, light a white taper in your power hand, place a drop of cedar oil near the wick, then light it saying.

Father Enlil,

Lord of the Atmosphere,

Whose force is unstoppable,

Let thine essence be present

witness to my affirmation.

Stand outside the north candle, facing toward the center of the circle, light a white taper in your power hand, place a drop of cedar oil near the wick, then light it saying.

Father Anu,

Lord of Heaven,

Whose authority is irresistible,

Let thine essence be present

witness to my affirmation.

Stand outside the west candle, facing toward the center of the circle, light a white taper in your power hand, place a drop of cedar oil near the wick, then light it saying.

Father Enki,

Lord of the Sweet Water,

Whose wisdom is immense,

Let thine essence be present

witness to my affirmation.

Stand outside the south candle, facing toward the center of the circle, light a white taper in your power hand, place a drop of cedar oil near the wick, then light it saying.

Mother Ninhursag,

Lady of the Earth,

Whose strength is unequaled,

Let thine essence be present

witness to my affirmation.

Now step inside the circle and not inside the triangle, it is time to light the inner candles. Light each candle clockwise starting with the candle at the east point (birth candle), say as you light each one.

Birth, the beginning,

Death, the release,

Transition, the understanding.

Stand in the center of the triangle before the brazier, facing east, start sprinkling the incense on the charcoal, sufficient to burn for the remainder of the ceremony.

Raise both of your hands toward heaven, raise your eyes as well, then recite the following.

I am the son/daughter of the ancient mother/father,

I am the child of the father/mother of the world,

Brought forth from the earth,

Ignited with Devine fire,

I create in the name of Devine will,

Take witness to this.

I pledge myself, body, spirit and soul to the service of (insert patron),

Who will guide my growth through this life.

Let thine essence touch my soul,

to renew my spirit and

strengthen my body.

Dur An Ki

Bow your head and maintain your focus for several minutes.

When completed snuff or pinch out the candles in reverse order. When putting out the for direction candles thank the respective deity.
